200 mph legal seat for 2009

I was told full head encloser is required over 200 this year I really don't want to do it by adding bars to the cage.  Will a seat like this suffice?

Yes it will as far as I can tell from the way the rules read. Thats what dave and I are going to buy anyway.

Nice if those will bolt to my drag seat it will save me from having to spend $900 on a new seat.

The 98716 is what we use. Just make sure that it is integrated into the roll bar for addiquit support. It can't be mounted to the seat only.

That is correct it must be mounted securly to the cage not just to the seat. I am going to grab the head restraint and try to move it. If the whole car moves you did your job, if the seat moves/flexes try again.

Ah, just got clarification from Timney.  I see what you are saying Mike.  If it is part of the seat it has to be rigid like the Kirkey seat he referred to in the first post.  Can't run the little sheet aluminum things that bolt on or they will just bend.  Looks like we can do something with our current seat if we make a structural support that is strong enough to 'shake the car' when you move it and not just bend.  He also clarified that the shoulders have to be supported as well.  Hope I can get all that to fit!

Please be aware that all seats and safety products are not created equal, at ISP we meet very rigid testing standards.  SFI certification has helped weed out many substandard products.  Please look at products with SFI certifications like 38.1, 45.1, 45.2.

I was just at the Greensboro NC  Race Show and spent about 20 minutes with Kris from ISP... The Stealth Head and Shoulder Restraint system is great.  It is bolt on and will work with just about any high back alum race seat.

Looks to be very high quality,,, My Stude will have that setup in it for sure,,,due to my size, I may even let them do a custom seat for me too!!...

I can't see how you could go wrong with this setup... I know it is bolt on, but that allows for perfect alignment and height of head restraint.. very sturdy reinforced .125 alum.

I think you're right Mike.


My concern with the new "street" racing seat requirement, is how do you safety mount a seat and brace it (with the cage) when you have only a 6 point.  (175 MPH tech).  The floor mount of the seat has to go with existing floor pan, but the rear of the seat has to be secured to the cage.  There is no guarantee that in a roll over that the floor pan will move the same way as the cage.
