Old Bonneville Pictures
« on: December 21, 2008, 02:08:12 PM »
Hey guys, I was digging through my shit and found some old Bonneville photos so I started scanning a few of them, I posted a couple in the Thermo King post, then thought we need a thread where folks can post their old pics.
Freud, you should be able to post 1 or 2 a day for the next hundred years

Now you know why we chose that car to make a fine art bronze trophy for the fast car of the meet at World of Speed.

Here's a shot of the trophy.  Jeff Decker personally delivered the first one to Fred.

It's 1963; In the foreground Hammon - McGrath - Whipp next Herda - Knap - Milodon, behind them the Pisano brothers Studebaker and way in the back above the rust colored El Camino the blue 1939 Hollywood Graham of the Scavengers car club of Burbank.
Unless it's crazy, ambitious and delusional, it's not worth our time!

Yanno, Sum Patterson and I (well, he started it...as I always tried to tell ma) are working on a listing of LSR vehicles, indexed by number, with dates, teams, owners, etc.  We're also trying to get photos for each entry.

I sent him some stuff earlier in the day to see how we could combine things.  We've also mentioned a different web domain for this and I suggested using MySQL on a linux server and keeping the whole thing in a database.  I don't know how practical that might be, but it's a thought.

Stainless, would you mind if I either saved the photos to a folder with your name or asked you to send 'em to me?  I've got a lot of room on my main computer (not my web server)...like about 2.5 terabytes of disk and I've had an offer from a guy who wants to sell me a computer that he set up for gaming for real cheap.  I was considering turning that into a replacement for my current web server with a new server/gateway software package (probably the latest version of ClarkConnect.)  This might be a starting point.

Ideas?  Thoughts?  Flames?

Ray,

We have not had good luck with external storage devices.  Five bad ones in the past three years.  They can't take the heat!

The Huummmm was supposed to make it easy

I will look to see if I have it in lakester form as I keep digging.

Ray, I have your email, I can send you the as scanned ones if you like.  Or you can use the smaller ones from here instead. Send me a PM and let me know.  Some are scanning larger than others and I haven't figured it out since the settings are the same.

Bo, I have pics of Bluebird on the salt, you were not born then I think...  :|

I understand the heat thing.  That's why I have a large fan blowing on the workstation (where most of the disk drives are) and on the 1 external Firewire drive.  That one is only on when I use it to back stuff up.

Thanks,
