It's on the second floor of the Nugget. Pretty sad shape. People keep picking off souveniers.

Took some photos in 2012. Hope that somebody will find a good place for it in the new museum.

Back in the middle nineties the 509th Composite Group (A-Bomb) which trained secretly in Wendover had their 45th Reunion in town during Speedweek. Fred Bock, for whom the second B29 was named, recognizing me as a Bonneville fella, asked after the unveiling ceremony of the monument at the visitors center commemorating the crews if I could take him out to Speedweek to find the little red.white and blue lakester, #1000, called the Bockscar. The Bockscar had been named for his B29 and I was proud to take him in my little VW coupe out to the salt. Below is a photo of Fred Bock, myself and Bockscar, a Bonneville racer that has gone onto a long and distinguished career at Bonneville.

Nice photo of you with Fred. I remember that day. A photo of the car was in the visitors center.

Fred and Ben Jordan were acquaintances, basically how the car was named... after the last airplane to drop a nuclear weapon in anger... Fred enjoyed our take on the nose art.
He spent a large part of the day racing with us, which back then required a lot of waiting and story telling.

John

Thanx for letting us "kidnap" the car for a couple of photos John. What is Bockscars fastest speed to date? I never saw the visitors center photo. Sorry I missed it as I stop in at least once a year.

Loved these guys as they introduced me to Bonneville. Jack Stewart, Jim Seabridge (where are you Jim ? ? ? ), Dick Zook and the crazy crew of Wheelers.

Anyone out there remember the time vandals created a "little extra work" for the racers? Nothing could pull it out of the mud except teamwork and sweat!
