Pete ran #2 for many years. Car is old enough to look much like Pete's. I don't recon the truck. Any SDRC historians here?

I got a note from Chuck Embrey about the car.  Here's pretty much what he had to say:

Here's something about Dave Zook's photo of the Orange #2 roadster: The car belonged to John Hagen of the Rod Riders. It was Chevy powered.  I was a Road Runner at the time and saw the car often at El Mirage.

There you have it, boys and girls.  I've got Chuck's email address if you want to get in touch with him.

Got these pics from Richard Knudson, probably the one guy who is more rabid about land racing MG’s and their history than I am.  He’s written a half-dozen books on MG, and he was gracious enough to share these pics with me from his trip to Bonneville in 1997.

DW tells me this MG-F ran 217, and was a “time only” entry.  Love the uber-hip Jetson’s style canopy.

Anyone help me put some names with these cars? – also from Dick’s trip in ’97 . . .

The second one would be Richard Thomason's/Ed Tradup's Danny Boy.  No big mystery -- the Danny Boy series of cars is still running at Bville.

Dave Davidson now owns the Willys.  Don't know if he bought it before or after the shot.

And the MG ... wasn't it a sister car to the MG wagon that Andy Green (?) ran.  Time Only probably as it didn't fit class rules.

Third pic, I don't remember the gentleman's name. He rolled over not too far from the starting line ended up on his side on fire. This incident resulted in a rule change about fuel flow in the case of a roll over.

Fourth is the Demsey electric streamliner, Pat Rummerfield driver.

Last is the Giovani(sp) roadster. The original car, Spurgon/Giovani was SCTA champ in 1949. Four cylinder Chevy, 3 port Olds head. Now restored and a Pebble Beach contender. This car ran a model B if I remeber correctly.

The MG was a pre-release model that was to be offered to the public. Terry Kilbourne, KKM Racing Monza, worked at the Range Rover store in Encino at the time. It was discovered that he had extensive racing and salt creeds so he was brought on board to help. The team pitted with us at Speed Week. When the water pump gave up one was sourced from the English team's motorhome. Terry drove to 217 best speed. Water pump back in place, everyone returns to their homes happy and tired.

The liner is (I believe) electric and the product of the Arivet Bros. and Ed Randberg.

There are present day liners pulled of its mold.

Interested Bystander knows more.

The 37 or 38 Willy's was built and owned by Woody Parker from Grants Pass (or thereabouts), Oregon. The car got sideways and the running boards were so low that they bit into the salt and it became a Turtle.
The car was rebuilt and raced again the next year.                       Bob

I think Street Rodder featured this car?

Bob and Curt Giovanine roadster  (Bob passed away about 12 years ago BUT was 80 yrs old or better and still driving ) Curt still has the roadster in Bishop Calif.
Engine is a 1925 Chev that Curt made a special head for. They ran some nitro and had trouble holding the fragile block together, Joe Bogosian made a thick plate for the bottom end with bolts running from top of head to help.
From what I understand this is not allowed anymore so engine was outlawed.
Bob told me it was running over the record whan a hood strap came loose.
