^^^Same bike, same spot, same day, same time.  Except two STP stickers have been erased from your photo, one on the tail and one under the "&",  Richards & Holtan...

It's in the NHRA museum in Pomona. A little history this car went 306 mph in the dirt before Kenny B. ran 300 at the drags 8 months later. The car was sold and crashed at El Mirage. All of the pieces were saved and Mike Cook Jr. took it on as a restoration project and with the help of a few donations they completed the car and donated it to the museum. There is a whole section of LSR vehicles on display and tons of other goodies and pictures. The museum is on the NHRA web site.

Streamliner, you are wrong.

I did not remove any decals. I have the original 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 transparency on my desk.

I was there when he stepped out of the bike.

I doubt that the bike ever ran again.

Freud,

There's no way I'm going to bet against you!

Same oil drops on the salt and the tire hasn't moved.  Maybe he added them (or took them away?).  The Gyronaut didn't get STP's sponsor money until AFTER it had won the awards (and press photos) at the 1965 Detroit Autorama, even though it was a done deal months before...

Real easy to "add" stickers during a photo op. Ever seen a NASCAR driver changing sponsor hats during an interview?
I would submit that those stickers were likely added during the photo session in anticipation of the STP sponsorship deal.

Regardless interesting bit of photo trivia.
If you look at the shadows under the bike in the three pictures, it looks to me that Freuds picture was shot first and the other two pictures a bit later in the day, as the shadows are farther back on the second of the pictures with decals than the first. That implies the bike was on display for some period of time, making minor setup changes like adding the stickers a 30 second change for a new picture setup.
