There's a combination we don't see every day -- Not only a racing Citroen on a trailer, but also a Citroen rigged as a 5th-wheel puller/truck.  Yep - see 'em only once a week or so at the local hardware store or WalMart :roll:

Tman, I can help, Jerry and Silvia are both in the 2 Club, Silvia right at 200.0 something if I remember correctly.  First SM raced at Bonneville was when they still had the Sports Racing Class... 1972 Speedweek, brand new car, Johnboy and I pulled out the leather interior and installed the roll cage.  Ben Jordan was the driver.  No we didn't go that year... the Air Force had other plans for us.

Slim, forgot to mention, the trailer has the Citeron suspension in it.  Very cool combo

I don't remember the "Ranchero" conversion -- most of those attempts come nowhere near as cool as that one.

I hate Citeron suspension.

In 1963 I was pumping gas. A Citeron pulled in and the French couple turned off the car went inside to get a soda and told me to fill it up. As I was quietly pumping gas, I looked down at the filler pipe and gas nozzle and all of a sudden the car began to raise up about 4 inches. Scared the hell out of me. I learned that the air suspension adjusts when the engine is turned off and the driver is gone. I still remember THAT car.

Bill, the suspension is actually hydraulic,  if you put it all the way up you can then raise a corner to change a tire.  Want a low rider, you just adjust it to the bottom.

My mother had one of those Citroens, an ID19.  Late 50's model.  It was a front wheel drive car named "Powerful Pierre."  The front wheels were farther apart from each other than the back wheels.  She claimed the car could be cocked a certain way on the suspension and driven with one of the rear wheels missing.  These were very advanced cars for their time and it was amazing the French could build them.  Their country was trashed during the war and it was in the not so recent past.

The seats folded down to make a soft bed.  A very French feature and quite shocking for the staid 50's.  The beret I wear to the NW Reunions and BUB parties is the one my father wore when he drove her car.
