Who is in charge of the SCTA-BNI.org website?
« on: December 08, 2008, 06:47:34 PM »
Seems pretty pathetic that the information from previous years (results) is no longer available in the "archives section" what is the reasoning behind that?

Went to look for points and results from the 2007 season and poof: : :  it is no longer available...

I thought this was the information age... :-D

Glen,

Thanks for the information..do you know if the SCTA owns the server and or storage for the site?

More information is posted here in any given day than what is posted and stored on the SCTA site so it would seem that the results from previous years of racing could be stored as well..?

Ed operates the site -- but I don't know if he's "in charge", deciding content and the like.  I'd be surprised if someone on the Board doesn't consult with Ed on details such as you're asking about, John.

And - I remember recently seeing a post (here on the Forum) telling us that some stuff had been deleted from the SCTA-BNI site to make room for other, newer data.  Maybe it was for the October El Mirage event, or such...

John:

From the what's new page:

10/03/08:  Due to space constraints on the SCTA-BNI web site, we have removed all 2007 Bonneville results and El Mirage 2007 results.

Like I said, I cannot believe that the racers results are gone, what about the people that did not get records and want to see how they did or how others did....it could not be much ($) to be able to maintain that information unless the server/storage it severely outdated..I wonder if the computer they are using is a Commodore 64?   :-P

Thanks to all that have offered information I guess I am just a bit frustrated at the minor situation of not having the information at hand when you can look up about everything other than last years results...  I think this is a disservice to the racers and competitors however that is just my feelings I am sure...

Well, thanks to the WayBack Machine it's still available. That nonsense about not having enough disk space is really, really dumb. The SCTA has no history. The last 50 years doesn't exist. Roy Creel's email is at Antelecom so maybe there is an answer.

2007 results
http://web.archive.org/web/20071225012710/www.scta-bni.org/SCTA-NewWeb/Bonneville/SpeedWeek_07/results.htm

The internet archive keeps copies of EVERYTHING. When your favorite web site takes down that porn, BOOM it's back.
The SCTA-BNI web site goes back to 1998. Not everything works, but there is a lot there.

Search Results
Results: 1 through 0 of 0 (0.021 secs)
You searched for: SCTA El Mirage results SCTA   Advanced search

Your search did not match any items in the Archive. Suggestions:

- Try different keywords
- Try a more general search

Dean,

Thanks however those B-Ville results should be on the SCTA current site not stuck in a garbage can in outer space...
