The latest is that Ken has retired, having waited so long for someone to challenge his record.

Kens new Jet Boat

Do you know if the Quicksilver UK team beats his record if his son will drive the new boat and get back?

I think that Quicksilver still has a long way to go. The project has been ongoing for a long time......I have not heard anything from Russ Wicks and his effort for a while either.

I e-mailed Russ and also the Quicksilver team some months back. I've yet to get a response from Quicksilver...

Wicks' project manager e-mailed me back. When I initially wrote him, I pointed out that Russ had gotten the "stock car" record at Bonneville, but had yet to make any WSR announcements/attempts/etc. I got a reply which basically said that until more $$$ floats their way, they are going to focus their efforts elsewhere.

Lee Taylors Discovery 2 rocket boat

This is from a WLSR design and aerodynamicist friend below

The leading theories on the cause of the crash were a combination of speed too fast for conditions and the rudder becoming locked in a turned position.

I saw that crash on tape. The thing started rocking back and forth pretty bad. One sponson dug in, and it was all over.
