Kent,

We have the top car, top bike (and fastest as well) then our back up bike was third and the "little Roadster that could" finished in fourth... :-D

SDRC is once again the SCTA points champions!!

Thank you to all of the volunteers/ board members and racers that make it happen!

I hope Keenan is doing fine after his get off on the Bartels Harley Davidson.

It was sad that the last pass of the season had to be a crash.  I hope the rider is doing well and has a speedy recovery.  He went into a high speed wobble on his bike right in front of our pit, about the 1/2mi? point and got spit off.  Patrol units were there within about 60 seconds, and the ambulance in just a few minutes.  He was motionless at first, but starting moving around after awhile.

We had a great season, and I would like to congratulate all the SCTA staff and workers, and fellow racers for putting on another excellent event.  We are still having a mystery problem that is shutting the engine off at about 150-160.  Everything went fine on the dyno to 198mph, but not at the track.  Hopefully we will have it sorted out before the 2009 season begins.  We are going to back to drag racing the truck for the winter, and maybe a sled pull or two for fun.

Side note:  Somebody drove through the starting line metal barracades and nailed a speaker with a pickup in the middle of the night.  Witnesses say he was driving with his lights off at about 1am?  Jerk.  Probably drunken jerk.

While being an idiot and running into solid objects at night with your lights off is not acceptable behaviour except in certain southern states, it would have been sad if some kid hit one goofing on a bike at night.  I will bring a roll of reflective tape to the first El Mirage meet next year and ask if I can put some on the barracades and lights.  Yeah, it won't do much if there is no moon, but it would be better than nothing.

I vote we give Kent back his avatar... after all he seems to be a cocky, defiant sort of squirrel...

Scott,

We ran the number we needed to get the Red bike over the Grey bike for the points championship, right at 207 or so.

From the SCTA web site:
Quote

11/17/08:  Near the end of the meet Sunday afternoon, San Diego Roadster Club member Kennan Tatro experienced what witnesses are calling a "High Speed Wobble" and was thrown from his motorcycle at approx. 150 MPH. He was transported by ground ambulance to Loma Linda hospital, checked out and released at about midnight.

I spoke to him this morning and other than being bruised and sore, he is fine.       Roy Creel
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.

Some years back Keenan was coming into the lights and hit a cone and photo cell/battery with his foot. Busted it up pretty good and stayed on the bike. Refused to go to the hospital that time. Twice lucky.

The two get offs that Ron Cook did at Muroc and El Mirage in two weeks right in front of me in the timing trailer was enough to scare the crap out of anyone.
