Drain holes - does fluids out always have to mean dust in?

So the rule book says we gotta have drain holes, to drain out any wayward coolant, oil, fuel or in Kent's case if he pees in his pants (actually for that he needs drain holes in the top of his car  ).

Any thoughts on how to keep the drain holes from allowing dust/salt into the car?  Does anybody make little maybe inverted NACA ducts, or louvers, or little wedgie things I can attach over what is basically just a hole saw hole in my car's aluminum belly pan?

Here's a thought - how about an open-cell foam filter, kind of like what's used on an LCD projector or a computer?  You could simply glue it to the perimeter of the holes, liquid flows through it, but the dust stays out.

ha ha ha... yeck it up there buddy... your memory is slippin pretty good cuz if it was workin right you would remember i have all kinds of duct thingys....keeping the dust out is as simple as positive pressure....ya get my point pin head.... hey im still gonna need some place to stash the liner this winter.... i was plannin to bring it down and abandon it at your huge estate thursday before the club meeting but it looks like ill be thrashing on the new bike to have it ready to get dirty....

If the floor is aluminum bend the leading edge of the drain holes down and the trailing edge up .

You can make a "flapper valve" by cutting a piece of tape about 4 times as long as the drain hole diameter, folding it over on itself so about 1/3 of the sticky side is still exposed and then stick it to the bottom of your belly pan. Make sure the folded- over section of the tape is centered over your drain hole. The tape width needs to be a bit more than the hole diameter, of course.

The tape will act as an el- cheapo check valve-- fluids can drain out but debris can't blow back inside.

AH HAH!  This explains why Kent was no help with this obviously patented solution:

1. Not enough moving parts
2. Can't be done in carbon fiber
3. The embarrassment he would suffer if someone on the rescue crew happened to notice this technology (you can only conjecture as to how this would happen.  He has pretty much obsoleted the well meaning phrase "Keep the shiny side up" hasn't he.)

I heard Kent has a toilet flusher in the belly pan. It opens when the chute deploys

Most of us call it a canopy, though, Glen. 

And opening it helps K drain away those pesky fluids.

We have Naca Ducts on our belly pan and faced them the other direction. Seems to have worked, because we didn't have much salt in the engine compartment.
