Ed Safarik normally posts the results and I heard he was at a wedding this weekend. Results might be delayed a little.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.

Speaking of results, there will be one speed that won't be in the results. One of the racers left the line without the starters permission. Just drove off when Jim Jensen wasn't even around. There were plenty of workers on the course all day, several problems with one of the lights, course inspection, you name it. Really dangerous.

I'm sure the guy got enough from the SCTA officials without mentioning his name here. Not his first time.

Do you mean not his first time running at ElMirage or not his first time starting without the official go ahead?

Out of curiosity and as a team that has on more then one occasion had an accidental false start due to misleading signals from a starter (not beating up the starters here, just miscommunication/misunderstandings on both parts)  could you detail the incident so we can all understand and learn? I know someone posted that the starter wasn't present were there other circumstances or signals that could have been misread?

We've taken to positive eye contact and not moving until we're 100% sure and re-comfirmed (like the starter saying what the heck are you waiting for - go! hehehe) since we've had a few misunderstandings over the years! Better to be safe and wait!

What color are you planning on painting it?  :-)

Jim Jensen has been chief starter since . . . forever. There is a definite hand signal when he wants you to go. To the best of my knowledge from the view at the announcers stand Jim wasn't close to the car. I don't think anyone was in front of him.

Jim only gives the signal to go when he receives the message that the course is clear. If he isn't telling you to go then the course is not safe. The last car isn't clear yet, there is a course worker on the course, dust hasn't settled down or something like that.

"Visor Down"
"Git-er-Done"

If you leave your visor up, you will get two signals.

Dean,

You bring it to light that a racer took off from the starting line and then wont even post any info like the car color..you could post it in a  PM as well, I saw a car start to take off the line myself and that is why I asked..
