Laurinburg Lodging
« on: October 05, 2008, 09:11:00 PM »
Of the eight places to stay at in Laurinberg listed on the last page of the rule book, are there any tried and true recomendations ?  I was planing on camping one night at the track, but would like to get a room and a shower for a night before making the 900mi. trip back home.
Looking forward to the Oct event.  - Hope that pipeline is up and running by then. Gas west of Chicago went down to 3:70 this weekend.
Thanks
Jimbo

The Pine Acres motel is one of the base camps for the ECTA family -- but it often sells out, so call early.  Tell 'em you're a racer and you'll get a 10% (I think that's thenumber) discount, too.  The Clinton Inn has always treated Nancy and me just fine and at a decent price.  The Jameson has suffered some negative publicity from racers -- I'd suggest avoiding it 'til you've talked with others at the track.  Hampton Inn, okay, and there are many others - as you can see in the book.  By the way, I think that the ECTA website has a list of lodging, too.

I always stay at the Laurinburg Hampton Inn.  Clean, nice beds, free wireless and a pretty good breakfast is included.  If you are a AAA member - book online for the best rate.  When you set up camp at the track look out for the fire ants.  If you don't know what they are or how to spot them, ask somebody.

Clinton Inn has been okay ... Not great, not bad ... they usually have rooms as they open a section just for "the racers" when there are ECTA events. Plus, if you get a ground floor room you can bring your bike in the room and work on it ... Joe

The Jamison has just put new beds and pillows in. My room in September was the "premium" it was $5 more than the standard and had Granite Counters, new furniture, new beds and was clean and tidy.. Tax and all less than $75 per night.

Plus walking distance to  Smithfield BBQ (great fried chicken and BBQ Pork)

DO NOT STAY at the Scotland Inn,, it is a crack whore hang out,,, the only thing missing is the chalk outline of the last victim there ???? NASTY, DIRTY< FILTHY etc....

The Jameson was just fine in June.  I think there were quite a few other racers staying there as well.

Look out for the fire ants is the understatement of the year! I am glad to say I had never been around the mean little bastards until the last race ( thanks to the Atlanta guys for educating me on them). I parked & walked from my car to the trailer & back & got bit already. If you are tenting it you best have an armored suit to sleep in.

Who are you calling a crack whore?
The Scotland in has replaced the rugs in the rooms and now I dare to take my shoes off.
Shower and bed are clean, that's all I care about.

Well as long as you have lysol and anti itch creame, maybe the Scotland Inn is Ok for you.. But based upon my stay in June,,,, It was nasty, smelley, and had bugs.

But who knows it may had a total overhaul since June.  For the extra 10 bucks I would choose another place to stay.

just my opinion...

for the fireants at the track--use ant spray or (?) on rig and trailer tires so they don't have a ladder to get in. don't forget ramps.

Sunoco 110 works well on the ants as well... Also you can put a dab behind each ear and the flying critters will stay away from you too !!!   LOL

Just kidding,  that stuff is to expensive to use as insect repellent..

See ya at the track.
