Pork Pie, we'll check with Lynda on our way out today.  I don't know if the merchandise trailer is here yet.  When we were at Land's End yesterday there was only her RV and a few other cars -- no trailers.  Here at the motel I do not see anything like the big rental trucks they commonly use to transport the merchandise, either.  I'll see what I can and will send a message after we've been to Land's End.

By the way, I made an error yesterday when talking about the '06 World Finals button.  Now that I've thought about it -- the pictured car was NOT the Challenger, but instead was the Goldenrod.  I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused (like some of you scurrying around to find your button to check up on me).

Don't forget to cancel your rooms everyone!  What a bummer.  Thanks Nancy and Slim and all the folks from SCTA for trying to make this happen.  Slim, I was going to hand you cash, but now I will Put a check in the mail.  First time I have ever been ready in eleven years.  Hope the bars open pretty soon...........Bob

Pork Pie, Nancy asked -- "Why doesn't he just stay at home and maybe work -- to sort of pay for the tickets that he'll waste?"  If nothing else -- I'd certainly give a careful thought about not spending all of those hour sitting in the cattle-car seating of an overseas flight.

Thanks, Nancy, thinking about my bank account - but it wouldn't make a different - I'm bankcrupt so or so...

Real, if the cancel had to be on Friday, I could cancel the flight and the rental car - with lost of a lot of money - but so it's too late - Germany is not 24/7.....also I got vacation....to recover from my work....and sh...happens I try to do the best out of it......it's a long time ago that I drove around in the states.....just for fun.....all the last years....I flew to Salt Lake...drove to Raindover.....was at the salt....went back to Salt Lake and flew home.....nearly no other sightseeing...

By the way, Wayno - if I go down to Sum, may be on the way back (Friday) I will go through Salina - if I will give you a call.

Wow, what a fine attitude.  Next question:  We've got the photo tube for you, and also your t-shirt.  Where would you like us to leave them?  If you are for sure coming out to Wendover we'll leave them someplace in this town -- with Lynda, at Land's End, if she'll still be here, or at the desk of your hotel if you'd prefer.  Please let us know soon -- so we don't end up having to ship them to Heilbronn.

Jon,

if Lynda will be there to Tuesday, you can leave the stuff on her place at land's end - I have to pick up something so or so at Lynda's place - otherwise if Lynda will be not there to Tuesday - and I have no reason to drive to Wendover - please take it home. For the tube and the Tee - there will no necessary to ship them to Germany - we can safe the cost and I will pick it up at Speedweek 09 - always a optimist......

the problem is the time - if I got two days more I would think about to come to Rapid City or Denver - but the time that I live on Coke to survive my driving - but send me your address if I change my mind.....you never know.

what you mean with "in Denver, I will be there anyway visiting Jon and his new liner ....."
where you will be?????

Looks like we could maybe save the week:  :? Get the great white Ratliff to crawl out of hiding and bring a prop driven unit such as a WW II surplus DUKW with an Allison engine from a P-51 working as a hydroplane.
Get John Noonan to promise he would only hunt with nothing more deadly than  a camera.
Since GM built both the truck and the engine, we would have some sort of either symbiotic relationship or at least a family tie.
Perhaps a little less incestuous than the folks in Southern Utah or The Ozarks, etc.

I sent you a PM, yes come down.  The trip over will still be almost worth it with what you will get to see.  Ruth is already planning on what to cook for you and hopefully me  :-).  It has been raining here also, but is suppose to clear today/tonight and then be sunny for the rest of the week with the temps in the low 70's (about perfect for here).

My phone number and address is in the PM I sent.  Let me know if you didn't get it.

To SSS and Pork-pie:
Just got off the blower with RtR; he'll be happy to work as an intermediary to pass on whatever may be needed.
He lives in Taylorsville, Southwest part of Salt Lake; a trip to the airport or any easily found meeting point for both parties is agreeable.
He's quite busy at the moment with other projects, but can respond later in the day to either a PM or direct email.

Good luck to Pork-pie on seeing some fabulous scenery... Try to check out some of the early Indian ruins.
Not quite as old as the castles in Germany, but close.
While your folks were making good beer, the natives were carrying water up a sheer cliff several hundred feet. :-D
