A lot of little things done in the last few days.

Parachute mounted, release handle mounted(just need to finish the welds), release cable ran for the most part, added two more bars to the roll cage. We might be adding one or two more before it is all done. Got all of the push bar stuff complete, Finished all the harness bars and harness adjustments. Did some more final welding on the roll cage, added bolts to the remaining floor pads that needed it. And a few other odds and ends.

And spent about an hour last night with a MIG welder for the first time. Some pretty welds, some ugly welds, but all in all, I am happy I finally got to try it, now for more time to develop a techinique and consistency. I am not sure why I was ever afraid to try it. But excited non the less about it.

I had a busy weekend for work. But got a few more things done.

Finished the oil cooler install finally. all that is left there is wire the fan into the switch. I also had to go to the junk yard and get some fenders and some tail lights. We threw them away after the fire. We needed the tail lights as we are mounting the cable for the parachute to the passenger tail light. It was going to be a pain to to try and make a steel plate for the rear lights. And we needed fenders so we have something to mold the 1 piece front end off of. We came to the conclusion it was going to be too hard to lay fiberglass to nothing.

I also picked up a set of dsm 5 lug front hubs. As well as the calipers and associated brackets. This is to meet the mandated SCTA rule that ALL cars must use a minimum of five lug nuts for the drive wheels. I thought about modifying a set of four lug wheels to accept a total of six lugs, but rules also require 1" open ended lug nuts. And they just would not have fit on the hub of the wheel. We will address the toe issues accordingly.

A little to update. This weekend I picked up a set of five lug hubs so I am in compliance with the scta rule. I picked up two 15" steel skinny rims for my 5 lug lsr tires up front. I also got the larger dsm brakes as well as new pads and rotors. So I have another new set of breaks. These current ones don't even have 100 miles on them.

We completely finished the roll cage as well. Finally. With work and life it was a drawn out process. We also finished the parachute as well. The release cable, pack, mounting tether, everything.

I also picked up new tail lights and a new rear bumper. We removed them after the fire and threw them away. Now we needed them.

We also finished the push bar.

So much much closer to the end now. I'll get pics in the next few days.

Looking good, when I first say your mesh on the drivers side I thought it was a window net.  I guess my phone didn't give me a good view. :-)  It looks hard to get into (for my butt), keep up the good work.

I'm 5'9" and my friends go up to six feet. While its a tight squeeze, the more fit individuals get in and out fairly well. Our more robust friends unfortunately won't be able to drive the car. They can, they just don't want to deal with the hassle.

What a cool car.  I dig Japanese cars.  It's good to see turbo 4's hitting the Salt.  I'll keep my eye out for you in the pits.  See you on the Salt!

I will be there for speedweek this year. Just not with my car. I will be with retribution. A car from the mountain states automation stable.

Just a little bit closer.

Got the dsm knuckles, calipers, rotors and pads on the car. So now I am fully SCTA compliant there with my 5 lug drive wheel setup. Installed the rear side lexan windows. Installed the new rear bumper and modified it for the push bar. Bought four steel spare rims for my land speed/front runner tire setup. Installed my SCTA compliant 1" open acorn lugnuts.

I also ordered a set of adjustable camber plates to help align the car with the new knuckles that were not meant for my car.

Hopefully a few more things coming this weekend. Getting closer and closer.

No pictures tonight.

Got the suspension back in and camber close to the correct angle. Also began the process of making my front bumper. Not much to speak of now. Just in the process of starting body work. Hopefully I can have the roof rails done this week some time.
