Wow, such a small technicality that you overlooked something far more important. Steel sheething over the fuel lines in the path of the flywheel. I am hoping SCTA will let me add another 1/4" to my scattershield and extend it out. With this car already previously configured, there was not really a choice.

I will dig through my 2006 rule book and find that rule. I don't remember it, but may have overlooked it as I know my stuff is NHRA legal and not a "rubber" hose.

Hmm, that rule states pretty much any hose has to have a clamp. I need to look into the steel tube thing for the hose. I tried calling SCTA before, but they were closed. I just need to make it a point to call them.

You should really try a more recent book. Someone must have a spare 2007 laying about.

Mike mentioned this to you at the top of page 6.  Didn't think it needed to mentioned again.

If it's on the bellhousing it'll be considered part of the bellhousing.  The rule specifically says additional shielding regardless of the presence of a scatter shield.  Nothing says you have to feed the hose through the tubing.  Just find a large piece of thick wall tubing, make a cut along the length of the tubing (making a "c" if you viewed the cross section), and put the 3 or 4 hoses inside the tubing.  Viola, there's your shield.  It only needs to be about a foot long.  You're just protecting the tubing in the rotational plane of the flywheel.

Two problems: 1) your rule book is 3 years out of date; 2) the SCTA is not the NHRA.

Also, I don't suggest trying to petition the SCTA on rules that might seem difficult meet.  The SCTA has it's rules and they should be followed.  It's really for your best protection.  One interesting aspect of the SCTA is that no one ever tells you what kind of car to build.  That was your choice.  You build the car to the rules and should not build the rules to the car.  I really can't imagine that adding an additional lug to each hub is an impossible task.

"I tried calling SCTA before, but they were closed."

And if you get thru, you'll get JoAnn.  She's really smart, but can't help you with technical details.  You can join BNI, however.

And the technical contacts are listed in the rule book.  Nick has an 09, borrow it to read and you could copy the technical contacts page

I found the numbers I needed today. I put an email and a call in. Just waiting a day or two to hear back before I try again. Nick said I could take a look any time.

I can't. It is fun going racing with my friends. But does make me antsy watching from the sidelines.

Had a very productive weekend so far. Got some done two weekends ago as well. The cage is 80% done. Let me know what you guys think of the cage.

It is 19 points total. And if you count the bard under the seat, than it is 21 points. Came out more than I thought it would. And a bit crazier than I thought it was going to be. But I am happy with it. I pretty much did all the cutting and notching, and Nick helped me when I got stuck. I did have better luck this weekend though than my first try.

There is also some pictures of Nick Sutton welding the cage.

Just looking to see if there is anything more you guys want to see in this cage. Anything I can add to the existing cage to make it safer? Anything you guys would like to see supported more? I know there is a weld or two boogered up, we have rectified that. Is there anything that would concern you for safety or collapse?

Help me out folks, you all have been doing this much longer myself. I trust the years of experience you guys bring to the table.

Not that it makes any difference, but there have been a lot of "Monza" styled LSR cars with 4 lug front wheel which went over 200 and set records. I doubt all had 1/2" studs either..............Good Luck

I know, but they are specifying the DRIVE wheels. That is what they want for the five lugs. The rear can still be four lugs.

Anyone on the cage.
