the FIA is a "behind" mostly . . .  or should that be Mosely?

Of course I understand little of our rules . . . . but am happy to live with evenly enforced rules.

Mosely, get it?

Buckeye Bullet update:  They have stated that the 115 run was a "shakedown run" and are headed back to the mountain end for another "qualifying run."

I have some photos of their thrash, but got interrupted by a phone call, so I'll get 'em up later.

Hey Ray,

Can you ask around and get an update on Leo Hess's condition and see if anyone has any ideas as to what caused the crash?

I've asked and haven't gotten an answer.  Only the Ack crew are still here as far as the bike liner crews.  Them, Burklands, OSU and me...and the USAC dude and track crew are left.

Gettin kinda quiet and peaceful out here, although I think it would be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight, tho.  I guess I'm lucky.  I only have a 2 hour trip.  Lotsa folks with much longer to travel than me.

Bwahahaha, a few years ago I was sending Ray an email which started: "Dear Rat:"
(because I can't type).  Later I was apologizing all over the place and Ray thought it was great . . . .

Now you know the "rat" story . . .

And that's the truth.  PHHHHFFFFT!

So bottom line...how fast did Burkland run on both passes? What was his average speed from both runs? What record did he break? And who held the record prior?

P.S. Congratulations to Tom and the entire Burkland clan on a job well done.

P.S.S. How can I get my hands on video and on a Burkland T-Shirt? :-D

Buckeye Bullet just made another run.  Entry speed: 147.  Mile 141, kilo 140...or thereabouts.  Their intent is to rush back to the pits and refuel.  One of the students told me that they are getting a software patch from their system vendor as they are running and will load it into the liner's main computer during refueling.  This could open up a whole new can of worms.  Does a software patch in between runs constitute an illegal modification?  Maybe not now...but in the future???

 Ray

Were the Burklands having traction or engine problems? Car is capable of way faster speeds.
Good job ''Burklands'' two runs over 400mph in less than an hour ain't easy.

While I was on the staff at the BUB meet, I was lucky enough to be standing next to an engineer while he asked Tom Burkland [who did a great job running the short "mountain" course] some very good questions, Tom said that traction was a major issue, there was no way he could use all the power he had, I believe he said [don't quote me] he could only use around 73% of available power, the one factoid that stuck in my mind was the fuel consumption, 78 gallons per run, YOW!!!
