Here's a good article about the Burkland family and their race car that's on the Montana State University site:
http://www.montana.edu/mountainsandminds/spring2008/burkland/

There's also an excellent, in-depth article on the Burkland streamliner on Ugo Fadini's site:

Thanksd to Ray for keeping up the high standard of coverage.

I will take comments on the turnaround time allowed for cars raised last night, to a new thread.

The Burklands should have the mile record - subject to FIA ratification - the kilo is a much stiffer target as PP has noted.

Congratulations to the Top 1 Oil Ack Attack team for getting above BUB7 - might just temp more Brits back into the next round of this challenge.

From the Cycle News site:

Top 1 Oil Ack Attack Sets New Record

360.913 MPH!

On September 26, 2008, after five days of pushing their streamliner motorcycle to new limits on the salt flats of Bonneville, the Top 1 Ack Attack team achieved what it came to do - topple the existing absolute FIM motorcycle land speed record with a blistering 360.913 mph run. At 8:58 MST, team owner Mike Akatiff, driver Rocky Robinson and crew shattered the existing 350.884mph record set by Denis Manning and Chris Carr in 2006. The new record was witnessed by an FIM official onsite, but is still subject to FIM ratification. The historic record was set during the first annual TOP 1 Oil World Land Speed Shootout taking place this week at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Bonneville, Utah.

Why won't the mile record count if it is 1% gretaer than the existing 409 speed?

HA HA HA HA HA!

Now that's funny! I hope it gets picked up by some big national papers and they all have to credit the picture to "Ray the Rat"

Good for you  !  We won't see this kind of coverage in the SL Trib, unless someone dribbled a ball while he ran the course !
Ever since Dick Rosetta retired they just seem to have dorks on the staff who hate racing of any kind, although, Miller raceway has been getting some good press, maybe there's still hope !

The SL Trib to which I subscribe to here in St. George is all foot ball and other sports except motor sports. There is so little the sports section should be a good fish wrapper, along with the St. Geo Spectrum. The inner net is the best source for any motor sport news. There are a lot of Utah people that get little or no write ups in the papers. :?
