Dan says the Honda/F1 record is a bit over 241, and just now I hear that the needed speed on the return run is a hair over 252.  I don't do the math, folks, I just report on what I hear.

That is, 1% of 241 sounds like 2.41 to me, and 252 is more like about 4% above 241, but I'm just the messenger, not the mathemagician in charge.

Okay, Warner just called on the radio -- looked up the record, and it's 246.9.  So that's what they've got to average more than 1% above.

Speed Demon is darned near ready to run!  Quick turnaround.

Rocky says they're working on the turbo, but doesn't like the wind -- might not be 'til morning.

Burkland sure likes late afternoon runs.

Hess is still making a part.

I'll click post and then upload the photos of the E-Z Hook body repairs.

Terry Kizer doing work to build a sheet metal panel for the bottom of the bike (three photos):

Note Sam the helper, hard at work:

ON the other hand -- Speed Demon is about to leave the pit and ready to run.  They're planning on running laps, hoping for increasing speeds each time.  That is, go back north now, then maybe south, then maybe north...

Whoo-boy, that's quick work on a reliable car if they car prep and run in less than a half-hour.  Barely time to pack the chutes and grab a drink.

Speed Demon about to run.

with the down time....gotta add to the lsr related fodder............

willie.......how is that air and nitrous working out.......:)

Max........when you made the "275 mph" run this year
what were you clocked at..........?

also to answer your query "The Kawasakis and Suzukis that are turning in fantastic speeds with ease, are due to what? "......

not with ease, and due to same admirable qualities you have.......grit and determination..........

and the Hess liner........awesome that their out there....getting
after it.......but it surely is simply R&D and not likely to go real fast
this early in the game.........

Sam and Ack........awesome drama.........and truly on the verge of fast history.........

and very informative coolant discussion.......had no idea personal ky could ignite.......ive
tried.......no success yet.......

Joe,

Max here.

The 275 mph run was on the last day of the Bub Meet, and the speed was a calculation of engine rpm, gear ratio, tire diameter.  No timing slip.

With no timing slip some will believe--some won't.   My rider, my crew, and I know what it did, and that's all that really matters.

It seems I have more confidence in Leo than some do.  It's inevitable that his liner is going to go real fast.  Could be this meet.

Sam and Ack are really good friends of mine and I hope they BOTH set the record today or tomorrow.  Wouldn't that be something?

Through the two.

Through the three.

Dang, that car looks like it's a ball to drive.  Wish it were you in there?  Wait 'til you see the video.

By the four mile and slowing.

Just a hair slower, but since it's into a headwind maybe they'll use that as the qualifiying speed and turn around and come back this way.

They're down at the other end right now, throwing out the luggage and the food and the sofa and other things -- whatever they can to lighten the car.  All they need is a few more mph!

He was running against a 6-7 mph headwind at the timed stretch.  His speeds were 245.698 entry,  kilo  248.220,  mile  248.178,    exit  250.566

They're trying now to push his starting area back to about Floating Mountain so he can have a longer run-up!

He needs about 252 or 253 for the record.

Danged Air Force flyboys going overhead -- maybe they could buzz down the course in front of George and give him a bit of a wind drag help.  Here's the video:

Disregard my dumb message from a bit earlier.  Not only do I need an oxygen generator, I could use a hearing aid, I spose.  :)

Nice turnaround, back under way.

Ok.  Here I am.  Here's George Poteet in the car as the timing slip is read after the first down run.

No, we're not going yet!  Not 'til Poteet makes this return run...  And after you posted that photo, John, the Dork Cops will be on patrol looking for me.  Thanks, Buddy!
