Burkland crew is going to try to do the turnaround in the one hour -- issues and wasted time notwithstanding.

Mormon Missile engine is running, Lynn Goodfellow driving, heading this way in a minute.

Got some good photos of the Burkland car -- going by with small chute out, Tom walking the course to see the conditions he bounces and bumped along (and boyoboy, if that were me you'd see the brown stains at the rear of the firesuit -- not so with him).

Will post them after the Missile's run.

Mormon Missile through the ten.  Moving well.

Speeds:   Entry:   No speed -- car is reported to be moving slowly.

Don't forget that Sam Wheeler is waiting for his turn, already at the start line at the mountain.

Car is picking up speed.

Ed and Cris heading towards him, he's going about 45.  Fire truck has arrived at the car.  No issue -- safety.

No smoke.  Returned to the course.

Photos here:

Burkland going by our pickup at about a buck:

Look carefully and you'll see Tom trying to stop it -- darn near to the dike/highway:

ATV going to catch up to Tom, proceeding at full tilt boogie (by the way, when the fire truck went past us he WAS going faster than the ATV):

Tom inspecting the track.  Better man than I -- I'd be shaking so hard I could barely lie down, much less walk the course after that excitement.  From here you'd see the large brown stain on the rear of the pants.

411 car being towed back -- note the chute still bundled between the doors.

Note the damaged paint/scrape near the bottom of the car:

That's it for now.  Tom Burkland says they're scrapping the return -- anut came off the end of a cable and that's why they couldn'tshut off the fuel.  Shows you something about shutting off a hot engine -- doesn't need spark to keep running.

darn darn darn darn darn darn darn for Sam,    352 entry... my guess is something happened to motor... They must have had to turn up the boost... However Sam is a very methodical person, if ANYTHING doesn't feel or sound right he WILL abort...

Wait 'til you see the other photos that Ray has!  Dang -- black stripes where Tom locked 'em up.  Ray is on the way to the car to take some more photos.  Wheels are off the car.  Checking fuel and such.  All plugs out of the motor so they can do a check.

Mormon Missile has about a half-hour left in the turnaround time.

Sam's entry speed of 352 makes his run the third fastest bike run ever -- but he went off course and didn't trip the lights on the way out, so the run was aborted.

Winds are gently picking up.  Temps are 70-73.  Sunny and clear skies.  DA is a little over 5000 feet rightnow.
