There is no admission fee to attend this meet, and everyone is welcome to attend.  Go to the end of the road and you'll be told that you can go either hard right, and therefore to the pits, or off toward the left and towards the timing tower, which is at the "spectator" area.

So said Linda at Land's End when we were on the way out tonight.

And thanks, Sumner -- for buying supper for us.  The burgers at Mildred's are good, just like always.  (There -- that'll make up for him grabbing the check from me).

Man, we have been attending! Keep up the commentary!
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.

Their pumps are mounted in a proprietary fashion from Diesel Performance Research? (Curtis Halverton's shop).  Duramaxes use a Bosch CP3.3 injection pump that is capable of over 29,000 psi of pressure.  The chamber pressure on a shotgun is about 20,000 psi if I remember correctly.  The factory pump is in the "valley" in the front of the engine.  I run a second pump that is belt driven where the optional second alternator would be, which is a more conventional setup.  Pulley alignment is critical.  If I lose a belt, I drop 1/3rd of my HP instantly.  I believe Curtis's setup runs 3 pumps.

Hmmm...  seems the front is getting a bit light.  Too much ballast in the rear?

wonder whats going on out there??? I know Ack and crew were up at 5 am for breakfast and on the salt at 6 am. Nish planned on running first thing this morning and he is always out before sunup running his engine transfer pump to warm up the fluids... If winds were good Ack was going to run after Nish ran...... So I know there is some activity going on.... And as you can see by my post, I did not make the trip I got on the road and had to turn back last night...

Now Im just a refresh button guy..

Boy O Boy, is this getting exciting?!  I sure things would have worked out at the Bub Meet, as I fully intended to be part of this group that are going all out.  Unfortunately during our last run the blower drive shaft broke at 5500 rpm on Lambkys Liner/Black Lightning.  Earlier in the week of the Bub Meet our blower belt broke at 5500 rpm.  The blower shop in California that did all the anodysing and rebuild of the blower to update it from a street to a competition unit estimated that it would take 100 hp to run the Roots at 6500 engine rpm.  The blower is overdriven 1.6 to 1.  The blower belt used has a hp rating of 60.  As blower belts usually have a 50% fudge factor as to what they can actually transmit, I felt safe.  Evidently this isn't the case.  By the fact that the blower drive is giving up at 5500, I figured that the blower is taking more like 150 hp to run.   The entire drive has to be redesigned, new pulleys manufactured, a wider drive belt, and a larger blower pulley shaft made.  This couldn't be manufactured or done right in the short length of time between the Bub Meet and the Shootout, so this, my LSR friends, is why the Vincent streamliner isn't there.

Wish it weren't so.

It's 7.20 Tuesday morning:  Nish car runs a couple of miles and shuts down.  First run of the day ends with a shutoff.  That's racing. folks.

Good Morning!

Jon,

Can you find out what the sequence of events were for Burkland. I heard they were running way to rich and Tom Shut it down. Can you confirm this? and what are they doing to fix it.

Did the "Little Green Machine" make it out to the salt this morning?

Is Ack Prepping for a run this early am or are they waiting?

Is the wind blowing that would prevent Ack from running?
