How do you want to see the meet results?
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:35:03 AM »
Just what the topic says! Jon is new at this web site running thing. I'm happy to help out but I'm not sure what the masses want or need?

We've been getting the run logs as they become available and I can offer them in many different forms. Here's some examples:

1) Excel spreadsheet attached to a post: http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,4575.msg62292.html#msg62292

2) Text list attached to a post: http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,4575.msg62294.html#msg62294

3) Text directly in a post: http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,4686.msg63319.html#msg63319

4) Record results on the main landracing.com page: http://www.landracing.com//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=184

5) Links in a post to each events results page: http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,4686.msg63321.html#msg63321

6) If you have any other examples of what used to be done that you'd like to continue please post a link so we can see an example.

7) Would you like the results in a separate locked topic so all that is present is the results with no other commentary?

Let us know what you want and if you want a combo of any of the above and we'll do what we can!

Debbie

I like text in a post personally as there is no way for my cpu to screw that up, it is easier to read and I don't have to open another program up to read the results.

Thanks for your work Deb,
Scott

Cheers to Debbie!

Thanks for asking - And thanks for stepping up to the plate on this.

I love having the spreadsheet format that delineates as much info as possible so I can go in and make comparisons.

What I would like to see, and this would apply primarily to the production categories, would be an indication of the make and model of vehicle.  Is this possible or practicable with the info your compiling?

Thanks a thousand times.  This site was my lifeline last month, and the results were eagerly awaited.

Chris,
Unfortunately I only get what they give me. All I've done is cleaned up the data a little. I don't remove anything and so far I haven't found any of the venues including that information. That's something the participants would have to take up with each venue to release with the run logs.

The only problem I see in a post is finding it once everyone responds to it.  I did like how you had a link to each class with the records listed.  Or you can list numerically so you can find the cars or bikes you want to see.

Hey, DahMurf,

Good work on trying to follow up on the run logs thing.  The thing I think we are ALL looking for is what happened at WOS on Friday and Saturday.  I see a lot of Speedweek and BUB stuff in those posting, but none with WOS Sept 19 and 20 runs.

Any links to those?  And frankly I don't care what format it's in... probably text imbeded in a message with a subject of WOS Sept 19 an 20 Results would be just fine.

Thanks,

Jim

Nobody's given me the Friday and Saturday WoS logs yet, so that's why I don't have them.  I get them through the courtesy of USFRA and Dan Wright, their IT guy (Thanks, Dan).  I don't go to the timing stand and grab a flash drive full of data -- I get them with the help of the organization that puts on the events.  I'll keep trying...

The formats have been great. It's just the case that they do get lost in the clutter. The results are the only reason for living! As well as posting a link in the forum when it happens, the same link has to be on the main page AND on the records page.

Results should live forever instead of evaporating like they do on the SCTA pages. Or BUB. Or USFRA.

Landracing.com may be the only hope of seeing old records in the years to come.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Landracing.com may be the only hope of seeing old records in the years to come.

And this is why I was asking about makes and models.  The teams, drivers and records are listed, and that's critical, but it seems that to discover a make or model of a record setting production based vehicle, one has to hunt down someone who was there.  It can be a frustrating search for those of us who have an equal interest in the team, the driver, and the vehicle.

And Debbie, I understand - you're working with what you're given.  Database work is a tedious and thankless job - so again, cheers to you for taking it on.

Just what the topic says!....
Let us know what you want ...

I'd like each individual run text messaged to my phone as it happens, whether I'm on site or not of course (you know my number). This would allow me to concentrate solely on watching the run...
Thank you for your dedication, willingness and compliance of course!
See ya soon darlin - fluff my couch pillow.

About the only way to list vehicle make/engine specs/driver (or rider) is to have someone standing at the line and asking the questions.  Whenever Nancy or I make a run, for instance, I ask the starter to radio the tower with the information about which of us is at the controls.  It still doesn't always get reported right!  And then there's the USFRA's radio information sheet, which, when filled out, gives Ron Christensen some good information about all of the questions you've asked for -- and those sheets are not turned in all the time, and sometimes are incorrect (because either the sheet was filled out and mailed with the pre-entry - and things changed; or because things got changed in the pits).

So there's darn near no way to give that information accurately.  Not that I don't understand your request, and not that I won't try to come up with a way to gather and present it -- just gotta find a way to get it in the first place.

My question is why do the motorcycle records in the SCTA rule book give the entry name and the type motorcycle but the rider in most cases are not listed. Seems to me they should get recognition as well.
