There are PVC rollbars, bilge-pump "turbos", hydrogen generators, moth-ball fuel additives, Tornado "swirlers", etc, for a reason:  Folk buy them.

At least for these guys, they are honest, even if somewhat misguided.

I thought most folk grow out of putting baseball cards in their wheel spokes at about age 10...

Yes. I actually bought one of those exact things on ebay but it only cost me $9.99.

I put it in the exhaust of a coworkers car and it drove him nuts trying to find the high pitched shrill coming from his new car. Best $9.99 I ever spent.

It sounds like a screaming dog whistle! I cant imagine anyone buying and using those for other than a prank.

The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

It already has. He bought an annoy-a-tron and stuck it behind/under my desk. even when I figured out what it was and who did it I still could not find it. I had to acknowledge his greatness before he would remove it.

It beeps randomly with a super high pitched noise. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Truly an evil device.

I read the letter the guy sent in and was laughing pretty good. My boss is going to love this.

I am known to some to play a prank or two. Not to boast but some would even argue that my antics at times have been legendary.

On the "make your buddies car sound like its coming apart theme" try putting a brazing rod around one of the U joints in the drive line with just enough tail to make contact with the bottom of the vehicle.

Oh the fun!

for the drive shaft trick, just use a stout ty-wrap, the untrimmed end smacking the floorpan is hilarious.

Stick on wheel weights on the drive shaft will get their attention as well.
