Hello this will be my first time to bonneville i have built a gs1100 ..(gs1197) Suzuki and i would like some ideas on gearing.. The motor is has mild cams and bigger carbs head work etc. i am using a 530 pith chain ..any ideas will be appreciated ... Thanks in advance ...Melvin

Take your stock rear sprocket, and maybe a couple more -- two teeth and four teeth smaller than stock.  Might as well buy cheap sprockets while you're at it -- weight isn't an issue, and whatever you use out there will corrode anyway.  And since you'll save on steel vs. aluminum, invest in another still smaller rear, maybe this time five smaller than stock.  More is better than roaming up and down the pits looking for someone that'll lend you what you didn't bring with you.
 
 Worst that'll happen is you'll find you can't pull redline in top gear and you'll go through the lights in fifth -- then go back up a notch in sprocket and try again.
