3 Wheeled Bike/Trike Class ?
« on: August 01, 2008, 08:58:38 PM »
I know most of us have seen the two rear wheeled Trike conversions?  Can we run them ?

Now what about these new 3 wheelers that have one rear wheel and 2 front wheels?  Can they run? If so what class... I know Can Am males them, I will try to find a pic to post.

Thanks

Some years back there was a 3 wheel (rear) class but it went away after a couple of seasons. not much interest with the same two guys running the same 3 bikes. As far as I know the class was dropped from SCTA. Don't know about USFRA or ECTA allowing them. Maybe time only.

ECTA doesn't currently have a true 3 wheeler class only the sidecar classes like SCTA.
With the ECTA focusing on staying in alignment with the SCTA I wouldn't expect to see it as a class BUT if enough people inquired the race director may consider it.

So for now, no there is not a class for 3 wheels tracking separately.

There's a 3-wheeled Harley Servicycle (sp?) that ran the last Elmer and is pre-entered Time Only for Bonneville.

Back in the late eighties/early nineties there was a team that ran three wheeled GS1150 powered trikes. They were a take off of dunes type trikes made for climbing the big sand dunes, two wheels in back one in front, trike style. I don't remember what class but they were fast.

It has been quite some time since I rode around the yard on my trike a lot. But I seem to remember it was not to stable. Or maybe that was just me.
