Anyone disable the tip switch on their salt busa?
« on: July 21, 2008, 09:40:27 PM »
Last year during dynoing our upright mounted tip switch caused the motor to cut out at 8K (was in a diffrent mounting location than the bikes).
Filled it with puddy.....no more problems.

Anyone find that the bumpy salt causes the tip on their bikes to start messin' with the motor due to vibrations?

Just wondering....

JH,
Ya but mine is on a HD V-rod :x!
7000rpm IT WOULD TURN OFF :?
Tried everything {REPLACED EVERY ELECTRONIC PIECES, AND HARNESSES TOO}so HOPEFULLY next time out it will work?
On my HD. RT we even disabled the Knock sensor.
Don't know if you can with your setup?
Good Luck,
Kaz.......

Johnny,

On every Busa we have and cars with Busa engines in them I have taken the Tip over switch off and removed the four screws, I personally cut the round ring off and then install the cover back on and reinstall the TOS however some people simply take the switch and fill it with silicone on the "ON" position and then reinstall...

Johnny,

  To eliminate the TOS-

On the harness side of the connector there is a black and brown wire and a black wire.  Take the black to ground with a 62K ohm restistor.  All will be good.  :-D

I knew they had a restistor in there.....
Same with the key switch.....

Sneeky devils.

Thanks for the info.

WIll leave my siliconed TOS but like the idea of removing the ring OR putting a restistor better.

I could save about .3 pounds by adding the resistor!!!!

Sort of the same topic...
I have been told that the clutch safety switch needs to be connected and you should not bypass it. This switch has corroded and failed me at some embarrassing times - like at the starting line. Can anyone confirm that the ECU needs to see it there?

Thanks

Clutch switch bypassed gives a low rpm limit and "safe" fuel and ign curves, after all your not supposed to be needing power when the clutch is active.
Buy some new switches and replace for every meet.

I have never heard of this.
Anyone else know if this is true?
Last year I ran the motor with the clutch switch bypassed in the always pulled.
Need to know if I need to put a second push button on the car.

MAJ, if you had went by your "other" name I would of not questioned what you were saying.

I have a feeling I know why my motor dynoed a little shy last year!!!!

Have already resolved this.

JH, hmm all these folks with many names... I can't keep track either,,,

If I am me, and you are you, but from the first tense when you are talking then you  are I,, and I would be you ?  hmm so if we are there together than who are we ?

Man this name stuff is wierd.

Ahh just me having fun tonight, damn tranny pan is leaking and I hate leaky pan gaskets.. so rather than replace it, figured I would have some fun on here and search for some knowledge?

See ya
