V-8 with Hayabusa heads
« on: June 16, 2008, 12:01:27 AM »
Attended the Sussex (Wisconsin) British Field Days today, a fundraising car show for Children's Hospital and featuring Pommy cars.  Met John Hartley, with Hartley Enterprises.  John is building 2.8 litre, 200 lb, 400 HP V-8's which use Hayabusa heads.  With street cams, the engine turns 10,000 RPM.

His test mule is a Caterham Super 7,  :-o which can be viewed on his site.

I almost soiled myself.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

I guess I didn't mention that I actually saw the car.  It's a really slick install.  And of course, did I bring a camera?   NOOOO!

He's had cutouts in the sides of the hood, so I looked inside them and simply didn't know what I was looking at.  At first I though it might have been a Mitsubishi V-6.  John obliged my curiosity and opened the bonnet and started explaining it to me and about 12 other onlookers.  The engine is a piece of art.
