I forget his reasoning, but I know that he bought a pair of red boots and a pair of blue boots, and wears a red-and-blue set for Maxton and the other set for Bonneville.

Because one leg of his leathers is blue & one leg is red and the ECTA & SCTA suits are opposite!
He's quite color coordinated!  8-)

Do you think if we keep talking about him that he'll actually come back & post again!?! I'm still waiting on the post meet(s) factoids post. It's one of the highlights I always look for. I'm starting to feel he's neglecting us! Maybe if we keep talking about him we can shake him out!  :-D

Take it from an ex-roadracer, one piece leathers are the way to go.  Yes, they are slower to get in, but the protection is worth it.  After agonizing over the cost, I had Vanson make a set of leathers for me and have never regretted that decision.  Several years ago during the WERA Grand National Finals at Road Atlanta, I was in the middle of the downhill bridge turn (just before the start/finish line) and my engine suffered a catastrophic seizure.  The laws of physics being what they are, I was instantly highsided into the pavement (it happened so fast I didn't realize I was crashing til I felt the wind being knocked out of me).  After an ambulance ride, what seemed like thousands of x-rays, and several hours on my back, I was released (and yes, the doctor gave me lots of grief for my choice of this sport).  I was sore for several weeks, (LOTS of bruising) but no broken bones.  My helmet, gloves, and boots were destroyed, but a little patchwork had my leathers usable again. Best money I ever spent.........

2Stroke,  Been there, done that (over 20 years ago) but Yes I agree with you 100%.

If in 1992 I had been wearing leathers on the street when that truck crossed the centerline, turned right in my path and we hit almost head on,,, I am not sure if the leathers would have prevented me from breaking the 13 bones, but they sure would have reduced or eliminated the road rash...

For racing, if I was to do it again on a bike,,, ONE PIECE is the only way to go for maximum safety... But as a big ole boy I sure understand the 2 piece reasoning.

I am a fan of two piece - it keeps you alive when sunning on asphalt or salt. Mine are Vanson - they told me they had top fuelers that did well in excess of 200mph get offs - and their leathers did their job..... you can discuss with the Vanson guys - they see it all.
