battery hold down hayabusa
« on: May 14, 2008, 10:30:29 AM »
Can someone post a picture of their battery hold down? I have stared at that area until I am cross eyed and still havent figured it out. Oldtimers disease has struck. :-P sorry that is on a hayabusa. forgot to specify what bike.

I don't have a pic to post, but what has worked for me in the past is to wrap a long hose clamp (or splice two together) from both sides of the battery around the sub-frame. The clamp goes over the top of the battery and holds it in place. You can get the same result with several wraps of safety wire.

I was told last Nov. at El Mirage that hose clamps were not acceptable or legal. I don't know, just what I was told by Tom Evans.

Hose clamps and batteries wrapped with safety wire will not pass tech, car or bike.

As I recall Willie B posted pictures of the battery hold down he made. Do a search, it's in here somewhere.

Any time Fred! I over thought it too, trying to make it easy, repeatable, easily removable and avoid drilling and alas, I gave up, drilled two holes & it's a done deal!  :-D
The best idea was using the #3 Philips head screws so they're the same tool to remove the strap & the battery. Just my little paranoia of needing to get the battery out in the event of an accidental electrical melt down!  :-o
