Motorcycle boots
« on: May 07, 2008, 11:18:53 AM »
In the rule book it says motorcycle boots must be of "substantial construction". What does that mean? I have an old pair of road racing boots, all leather, zip up, rubber soles, 8in high. They dont have any of the "road warrior" looking stuff like all of the new boots, but they are racing boots. My question is will they be legal for SCTA?    Fred

Sounds like legal ones.  I think they are just looking for all leather type boots, but for peace of mind, send your question and a picture to the scta question line and let us know what they say

My boots are of a relatively supple leather upper, about 12" tall, and the foot is all leather with no fancy reinforcing.  They've been okayed at every meet for years.

Thanks guys. All I need is a digital camera, then figure out how to get a picture into the computer, then figure out how to send it to SCTA.

They sound legal.  As long as they're all leather and tall, you should be cool.  Send a picture to Tom and ask him.

I saw Fritz (Full House Mouse) running in tall leather lace up boots of substantial construction.  Sounds like what you're describing.

mail a real picture to somebody.  Or find a picture of a similar boot on the internet and send that.

Well after deciding that my 30 yr old boots will be legal I decided to put them on,guess what, they dont fit. They are a 9 and I wear a 10 1/2 or an 11 now. So my next question is any suggestion on an inexpensive boot that is legal. I dont want to spend 200 or 300 bucks for a boot that I will only wear 2 or3 times a year.

I bought my set off ebay last year for $80, great for the street or salt.

I found a great set of boots on Ebay, even came with a history, can't beat that.  Now the seller is a friend....
