Tire inspections for bikes over 195
« on: May 05, 2008, 01:23:23 PM »
Did anybody see the note in the rulebook about having your tires inspected after every pass over 195?

I hope I have to get my tires inspected after every run!!!  :)

The rule has been there, in one form or another, for a while.  It used to, for instance, require inspections after runs over 200 (I think), and also upon written in the logbook request by the inspector(s).  But -- you're on your honor to go in for that inspection.  The starter won't ask you if you went over 195 (or whatever) on that last run, nor will he ask to see a note/sheet/page in your log certifying that you've had the reinspection.  The inspector will make a logbook entry if you go in for that inspection, though.

Caveat emptor.

It's a good rule as the high powered bikes seem to have a lot of tire spin. Seen some pretty ugly tires after some of the runs. We pick up a lot of rubber off the courses. It's for the riders safety. It's a little different with the car guys but even getting side ways and we see it we tell the crews to go to insp. for a tire check.
