Stan is right, there have been 5 lakesters that have been over 300 mph (record 312 mph) in the dirt and over 360 mph on the salt, wheel driven real hots rods:-D

The first jet land speed car was designed and built by hot rodders Ray Brock and Ak Miller.

I think a car like this with a good four link system on the back would work nicely for reaching the true potential of wheel driven cars on one mile of pavement.

I believe the previous record-holder was the Scotty's Muffler lakester which is in many ways similar to what FR has presented.
