I stated earlier to wait for the new rule book. This way everyone will have the same information to go by.
The new rule changes / requests are with the current SCTA board for review and proper wording for clarity. When they are approved the changes will be posted on the SCTA web site.

Since you do not have a rulebook, the following is from the 2008 book. Comply with the rules and you should be OK for the next two meets:

3.A.3   Driver’s Helmet Support:
A side and rear helmet support system shall be used in all vehicles.

Forward movement: SFI 38.1 systems are encouraged, however, they shall be “engineered” as an integral part of the entire restraint system, inclusive of the seat, safety harness and roll structure.

Lateral movement: The structure shall provide restriction to lateral head movement of less than 2 in. per side.
See Section 3.B.1.

Rear movement: See Section 3.C.

3.C   HEAD REST:
A padded headrest shall be installed in all vehicles to prevent whiplash. All drivers shall have the padding within 2 in. of the back of the helmet.

Your going to need to build some sort of extention on both sides of the seat with sfi padding that prevents the head from moving side to side more than two inches.  I do not have a picture of our car to show you but as it stands that is not legal.  Go to Sumners web site and look at some of his pictures on the subject, he probably has a good picture of one.  Or maybe some could post a picture for him.

I couldn't see from the pictures but do you have a full door net or other device? JD

J Six,,

when I blew up the last pic above, it does seem to look like the window net is a full door net (not certain from the angle bit looks like more coverage than just the window)

how much compressable foam is in that seat? how fast you plannin ta go? so at about a 125mph roll, the car could make a 3g (7000lb) hit.. so what is gonna keep your sholder belts from snappin your neck when the car hits on the passinger side? id race about anything even a propster but you would have to make a few changes for me.!...
just savin your neck....

LVMAXX,

The head side restraints don't need to be expensive, just sturdy.

You can weld tubing to the existing roll cage structure; on the diagonal brace on the drivers left side, and off the bar behind the seats, and cover the ends by the helmet with SFI padding. You might need some tube bending, or just creative cutting and welding. You could even weld on some flanges and make them removable.

Picture is of restraints I added to my Roadster (1" tube with 2 sizes of Padding).
