I have read in the rule book that if Batterys are mounted on there side they will need to be leak proof as in not lead/acid accumulators with bungs in each cell, are the batteries that are sealed for life from the manufacturers acceptable as in R1 type even though they are lead acid accumulators or does it need to be a gell or lithium Item?
Cheers Oz

AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) type of batteries like the Odyssey made by Hawker have no liquid to spill, leak nothing, totally sealed except for a hydrogen vent. They cannot leak their acid even if cut in half. They also can be mounted in any position.
