Engine Class question

Howdy all.  New here and I'm trying to join that elite 200mph club.  I am waiting for the new rule books...but am trying to figure out what class an 87 Buick Turbo-T would fit in.  It's a 231ci V6 with Turbo.  I was thinking PRO /PS but I'm not sure.  Body would be stock, engine location and everything else would be stock...only change might be the addition of a bigger turbo, possibly rear end and maybe even transmission and then of course engine management software (to control boost, knock all the other things as well as logging).  Once I know the class then I can set my target on how to set a new record :)  Thanks and hope to see you all soon on the salt.

E/PS would be my guess, 256.789 MPH if it didn't get bumped in 07...  :-o

Yep according to the SCTA site that is still current.

I was going to suggest maybe think about running E/BGC where the record was 215, until I saw that John Rains had blown that record out of the water with a new record of 264.6 this past year.  Looks like he owns about all the records that you could possibly run against and he is damn good and I wouldn't look at taking one of his records away without a lot of work and time.

That doesn't mean you still couldn't get a lot of satisfaction out of running your car on the salt and seeing how fast you could go, just not a good place to be if you want a red hat.

Thanks guys....I'm not a fool...well maybe I am.  First goal is just to join the 200 club, after that we will see what we have left.  Records are for dreams...and without dreams what do we have left.  Well, time to get started building.  TTFN.

2club, you need to visit the 200 mph club web site.
The way you get into the 200 mph club is you need to set a record over 200 mph.
Sorry, it's not just go over 200 mph, if it was it wouldn't mean as much.........or be so hard to do.

And I'm thinking that Raines' car might be a llittle slipperyer than a Regal.

One fast car and except for the paint job in my opinion a sleeper that is pretty easy to walk past and not realize all that has been accomplished with it by him,

Yeah, when I first started this endeavor I was going to go the TTA route...then decided that the costs for them was too high to cut up for racing...so decided on the regal.  Oh well, guess I'll just have fun for a year or 2 then decide what to do.  As for the 200mph club...that's more just a personal goal rather than actually joining the club  :-D although being a member of the club would be nice.

BTW, since we are in the rules section....since the 87 Trans Am came with the same motor as the regal TT can I swap my motor into any 87 trans am and still be considered production?  It was a factory available option after all.
