All we see mostly are the boy racers in their souped up hatchbacks. They look ugly and stupid and each one would fit into the trunk of say a Cadillac or Buick!!!
Hey, thrust39 -
Don't be so hard on the kids - they're working with what they have to work with - just like we all did.
Hotrodding starts with what one has available, and it's the resources and ingenuity of the owner that makes it cool in the eyes of the owner. Twenty-five years from now, it might well be the bitchin' '98 Civic with the "NOS" aftermarket chip, "vintage" garbage-can exhaust and 22" spinners that wins the prize at the Goodguys event.
That's what's great about hotrodding - it always changes just enough to remain the same. Highboys with flat heads and Buicks with lake pipes are, in spirit, not all that different from Corollas with turbos or lowered Volvos with rubber-band tires. In their own way, they represent the personality and resources of their builders.
Cheers from an American hotrodder with a pommy car obsession!
