Jon:

McAfee Anti-Virus is alerting to Trojans being installed by ActiveX controls (presumably from one of the advertisements).  This one specifically:

http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=138556.

I ran my anti-virus last night and have not had any problems until this.

Since I got a new computer with Vista as the O/S I haven't been able to go on the chat area. I get a message that the system won't allow the necessary Active-X control as there's a danger in using these controls. I've tried several ways to get around it but have yet to find the solution. If anyone knows the answer please let me know. The Tuesday night chat is one of the real features of this site.

I run vista and have no problems getting on chat.
When it initially loads you have to look towards the top of the page, but under the website address car, there might a section highlited in light yellow. you can click on that to load the Active X control.
If that should be your issue.
If not PM me and lets see if we can get it worked out.

The only thing that looks like "pop-ups" to me would be when the cursor passes over an underlined word -- and a little tag pops into being to lead me to some advertiser that has bought that word.

I do get a strange audio message once in a while - and haven't yet figured out which post-er, which site, it's linked to.  The message is a girl's voice telling me that I've won a pair of iPods.  That's all she says -- then stops talking.

As for viruses, I'll say it again -- no virus protection on my computer, and in six years I've had one issue with what may have been one.  Ah, the pleasantries of running Apple.

SSS, are you saying you are hearing voices? What are they telling you to do?   :-D

When you hear them go to the very bottom of the page, the ad is there.

Jon, the light yellow bar under the web addy is what I'm talking about. But it's not the Active X control. It's come up twice and says of course, "if you trust this website"click here. I trust you Jon, just not the rest of the internet world. Next time it comes up I'll write down exactley what it says, but what I wrote earlier was pretty close.

   Thanks, Larry

When you don't have your glasses on and your head is about 10 inches from the screen and speakers, she can scare the holly sh.. out of you when she says that.  Ask me how I know ,
