I made this sugestion two years ago, last year, and here I go again.
I would like to see the SCTA put up two chalkboards at the tech trailer.  One would be a sign up board for help available or needed, and the other would be for room openings.  Both would be simple to do with the help of cell phones.  I sure wish someone would adress this at the next SCTA meeting.  Its a little too long of a drive for me..................... John N.  maybee you could ask Erik for me...........thanx

I don't think the SCTA would mind posting room information on the triangular info board at the registration trailer but as typical things go people would not see it and the questions would start. This may interupt the work of that area of responsibility. I'm sure confusion would start and someone would get bend out of shape. The Director may put a stop to it if it becomes a problem especially in the first few days.

At meetings, other than the one where the changing of the starting day to work with the casino/hotels, the board has always stated they are not in the room business.

Rooms were at a premium in 1974 in my first year and we had no big places at that time. As long as people see coming to Bonneville as a "happening" and a "rod run" plus all the other propblems with growth there will be situations as we have now....Good Luck

J.D., I understand what you are saying, but I think a simple disclaimer message could be posted.  Placing it near the tech trailer would be in my opinion a good place for the help offered/wanted board.  The rooms board could go on the side of a little green chapel, and then it would all be Slim's fault........... :-D

Perhaps the board could be placed at the Flame grill (food area) so scta people are not involved. Just a self policing dry erase board that people could leave room info or whatever.

Okay, Bob -- I'll put your sign on the side of a P-P -- but I get to choose which one, and you get to keep an eye on it so that vandals don't mess with the sign.  Let's see -- how about if I put it on the potty that we place out at the 6 mile for Ed and Cris?  Naw, nobody but crews fetching their racers are allowed out there - unh, maybe the one by Glen's high-rise?  Nope, gotta have Glen's permission to go there for a visit.  Dang -- I know, I know!  The units on the side of hill, a half-mile north of the Bend in the Road.  yeah, that's it -- as inconvenient as possible yet still accessible to everyone.

Okay, back to earth, Jon.  How about putting the signboard at Land's End -- convenient and everyone passes there.

Another spot for the room board might be right at the end of the road.  I don't think anyone would mess with it there, and it would be a complete seperate entity from the race site.  The bottom line is we don't want anyone to turn unneeded rooms back into the casinos or they will most likely be lost to the racers in need.............worst case scenario is the homeless should bring their own towels, and I think most of us will lend them a shower and if they are tame, possibly floor space............... :-D
