Rich, thanks,, ................... So does that use a class system or just run for fun and stay 130 to 139 MPH ?   Also what kind of speedo would be retro to stay in my vintage era car that would be close to accurate enough to keep me from ging over 139 but at least 130?   Will those portable electronic gizmos work.  or will a basic hot rod speedo that registers 140 or 160 work?

I'm not Rich, but a tach is all you need and yes there is no classes in the 130 mph class at World of Speed.  There is also a 150 MPH club, but it requires more safety items, but still now what you need to run over 200.

I have spreadsheets on my site here that will help you with the tach rpm/speed deal and more:

Thanks to both of you for your help.  I have a few ideas then have to decide on how to proceed. Hey Summer  the rpm to mph conversion chart rocks.  I put in my data from my 36 Roadster and at 70MPH the spreadsheet and my tach are within 50 rpms of each other.  I have a 700R4 but I used your m21/m22 four speed data and inserted my rear gear, tire size and tranny ratios.. Man it works... If that is the case...This lil Vicky may rock when she is done, (excepting the flying brick areo challenge)

Thanks guys..

Since you stated it's a glass 33 please make sure you are using the correct body measurments for your grille to body. Some of the manufacturers are selling one piece glass front ends which are not the stock measurments. This can be easily seen by looking at a stock 33-34 the hood side front and rear part lines are not parallel. Many guys give their 33-34's the "Boyd-Foose" look which is not stock and in the altered class they must be....In comp coupe you can do as you please....

Once again Good Luck and don't even start without a rule book or inspection check off sheet.

May I suggest that you follow Sumners advice and look seriously at USFRA World of Speed in September. The event is somewhat smaller, more intimate, and a lot less crowded than SpeedWeek.
The 130/150 format is ideal for a first-timer. Use it like we did this year, as a learning experience.
We made lots of mistakes, brought a lot of stuff we didn't need and didn't bring some stuff we did need.  We got a good feel for procedures and how things work at Bonneville - which is 100% different than anywhere else you've ever raced (enjoy that - it's a good thing).  We also had way more fun than than we thought possible and came away loving it and wanting more.
You'll either love it and be hooked, or never come back again.  I'm betting you'll be back.

C.K.:

I have a pristine, 58k-mile, "cosmetically" restored 5-window coupe in my shop at this moment if you should need some measurements.

You can't believe how fast I've gone on those spreadsheets.  It's easy , I've already broken 2 or 3 of Stainless' "soft" records .

Ok now that you have seen the spreadsheets you might want to read some of this stuff:

Jimmy Six,  Thanks for the info, I will be using a glass body but I will use stock steel hood and hood sides as well as stock grille shell and grille (unless the billet grille like in my 36 looks better, made by AlumaCraft)

I thins the 130/150 club race is very good advice for my first trip to the salt..

Oh I have been trying to get a picture on here like all Ya'll have but I am getting error messages on the profile set uo to add my own pic?  any ideas?

For the 130 Club -- you make your first run as a speedo/tach calibration run.  That is, you go down the salt and they give you a timing slip which you'll compare against your on-board readings, and then you make your first "real" run.  That's how you get data to make sure you know where you are.

As for adding photos -- maybe Jonathon will step in and anser, or maybe Sum.  I took about a year to learn how to do it -- I'm not going to try to teach someone else...

Are you going to "your profile"??

Then to "Forum Profile Information"??

Then is the picture on another site and you want to link to it??

or

Are you trying to "upload" a picture off of your computer??

If you are doing the "upload" the picture has to be reduced to a certain size.  I can't see now where it says what that size is, but on mine it is 75 X 56 pixels (width X Height).  I see Jon's (Slim) is 100 X 74.  That might be about as large as it can be.  So if you have a large picture you will have to use some editing software to make it smaller.

Maybe this isn't the case anymore and the other Jon (our boss at landracing.com) will see this and tell you more.

If I can help more post here or PM me,

Sum

Summer,   The pic I am trying to Upload is on my computer under a "my pictures" file.  It is a photo of my car taken with my digital camera.  The error message I get is something like "not writeable"   I will try to resize and see.

Thanks

If you just want to put up a picture, click on additional options, browse for your photo and be sure it is the size and type allowed.  That info is listed
