self closing throttle OK ?
« on: October 22, 2007, 11:21:03 AM »
i can't find my rule book so i have to ask. On my APS/BG motorcycle i am using a self closing spring loaded throttle. NOT a push / pull . My carbs are not set up for one. i know that was OK for BUBs AMA but need to know if it will pass SCTA tech.
thanks
Greg

7.8.3 A self-closing throttle must be fitted to all motorcycles.

If your are not on the bike, the throttle must still snap closed, push-pull was not required in 07 rule book, push-pulls must also self close...
You should be OK, just make sure the throttle does not bind at all steering angles between the locks...

does the carbs have a return spring? you need to make sure that the inner cable does not bind or pack up inside the outer casing... a return spring on the throttle bodies usually will solve the problem....
