Knecum streaks at Maxton
« on: October 20, 2007, 07:53:18 PM »
Steve Knecum is the newest member of the NAKED 2 Club at Maxton. Riding the Forstall-Knecum-DeLuca "Old Skool" Hayabusa he ran 200.6 MPH. Fastest unstreamlined gas bike at Maxton. This bike is unique in that it is really naked; no tank, no ram-air tubes, no instruments. It uses Carburetors. Remember them. Pretty strong headwind today, let's see what tomorrow brings. Can't find a picture, but I will post one when they get back.

Larry,

That's Awesome!

I Hope to get out there one of these days? :?

Are You Helpin Wild Bill with His new Busa? :-o

What kind of RWHP/RWTQ did it take to break 200mph on the Motor?

I have a Drag V-rod I'm putting together, and would love to do Maxton and Texas with it .

Way to go,

SKR..........

Final report for Team Forstall-Knecum-DeLuca from Maxton. Steve upped his naked best to 201. Mark upped his 1650 Production record to 208.4 and also the 1000 Production record to 190. Mark also barely missed the Naked two club with a run on 199.8. Unfortunately on that run the shiny Murray pipe got crunched by the concrete.  (Bike is lower than the pics show). BIG CONGRATS to Bill Warner and team Wild Bros. for regaining the fastest Naked title with a 201+ run on their stunning V-Max.

We had the chance to talk several times with Knecum in the lines this weekend - really nice guy and we're happy he got in.  I know he must have tasted it on his first run going 199 and change.  Glad that he got it.

I had the pleasure of inspecting the bike -- and got a kick out of Steve "suggesting" that I take extra care to appreciate the carbs.  I wish I had taken a photo of the four big holes... I twisted the throttle to check the return spring action -- dang near hurt my wrist.  PLENTY of spring on that setup.

Congratulations to Steve and Mark, as I've said many times before.

There is a pic of the carb set up on steve's page at www.Naked200MPH.com  Just click on his name and his page will open.

Hey Bill,
Thanks for all the hard work on the "Naked" site.  Every day that goes by I appreciate my inclusion into this small, yet ever growing group of talent that much more.

Congrats Steve, yet another feather in your cap.
