Motorcycle rules meeting
« on: October 20, 2007, 11:09:12 AM »
From Russ O'Daley yesterday:

"Gentlemen,
A reminder or a notice if you haven't heard.  The M/C Rules
committee will adjourn the 2008 Rule meeting at 5:30 PM immediately following the course walk on Saturday, Oct,. 20th.  We'll meet at the SCTA building  so bring your own chairs and refreshments.  We have 6 rule change requests  to discuss for the upcoming season and we want to review some possible  changes for 2009/2010 seasons.  The bigger the changes the more leadtime we  should give the competitors."

A little late. I hope those on the lakebed will be able to attend the meeting this evening and give their input.

Too few, too little, too late.
  6 requests sorta paints a picture doesn't it ?

They're gonna adjourn after the course walk, when are they gonna convene?

Thanks Stan! I was going to comment on it, but I figured somebody would notice.

So I guess they need what? Two chairs and split a Gatorade?
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

The big question, can I put my fairing back together or did everyone else hack theirs to match Tom's new interpretation of the old rule?

I am sure Kent will chime in as he went and I did not, but I heard the fairings were going to be legal.

Kent, I just checked the Official information site, didn't see anything addressing our problem yet, can your answer be construed as semi-official?  Thanks for the "heads up" I'll start replacing the missing 1/16 between the parts or maybe just run speed tape....

Of course I appreciate Tom giving me a winter project  :? Nothing I like better than fiberglass work (itch, itch, itch, itch, itch...

The objective was and should remain to allow the rider to not be trapped with the open bike if it or you decide to crash.
More rules won't replace minimum common sense, but that won't stop some from trying.

While getting our Vintage 50cc motorcycle teched for El Mirage yesterday, I was told that it is under discussion that next year I would have to run 70mph to get a record. I asked if our bike was being outlawed and I was told no. I asked if I would be able to run our bike next year and was told yes but it would have to run 70mph to get a record. Well according to the 2006 rule book the minumum for my class was 37mph. Which I think is realistic, but there is no way in hell our bike would be able to go 70mph unless it was in neutral going down a 45 degree grade. What the heck is going on? I was told this was for El Mirage only. Why the sudden change? Can anyone give me more details?

Logical extension of that rule should remove from the records listings all records below 70mph and with it take away the #1 and associated Life Membership for those that abused the system.
I can think of 1 already.

well tom.... I dont think the motorcycle guys care if ya want to race 30mph... but for some silly reason the car boys think the SCTA is a racing organization and some of them dont think 30mph is racing.....after all this is a  car club....stands a good chance that if your race vehicle wont go the speed limit they wont want ya on the track... on the up side..... i think you arnt racing till ya have a rule made up to outlaw your racer... :-D
