Pit vehicle identification
« on: July 27, 2007, 05:48:35 PM »
I can't find the rules for ID'ing pit bikes etc... Do i need to ID them with my Bikes number and class, just a number or is there no requirement at all. If there isn't a requirement is it just considered race courtesy. thanks

"Don't leave it in the staging lanes."

And leave the key with someone not racing.

Requirements? Don't fall down and take the ambulance off the course. Please.

The intent of the identification on any support vehicle is to allow a bad act to be traced back to the entrant with appropriate penalties to follow.

Last year the pit vehicles pass had the car or bike number on them.  Like Jack said, they want to know who to punish.
If you leave anything near the start or stage, leave the key in it.  No one will steal it and if they do need to borrow it, they will usually bring it back...

And most important of all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not leave a locked vehicle in the impound area when everyone heads for the start line. This year I'm going to remove locked vehicles that are impeding the impound. Tough to explain to the rental joint when you return the Focus with the front bumper in the rear seat.

Happens every year.

My truck is always unlocked and the keys on the dash, no matter where I go. I learned a long time ago, never lock your vehicle and never leave anything of value in it.

Don't do that in Cali, there is value in a car that runs.  The helicopters usually catch up with them in the end.

Troy,

I think Richard and I were referring to a lakes meet. I have left my trucks unlocked for over 35 years. If someone needs to use it, it is available - they always come back at the lakes.

Should I make that last sentence a signature?

EASY
Put Dan's name on it and keep the keys in your pocket.
He will think he lost them, nobody will touch it, it is always where you left it, and available when you want it.

But the beer level always remains static. Whether truck leaves or comes back.
