Highway 138 made the San Diego newspaper Sunday.
It seems that there were a lot of people unhappy with the escort truck one-way system being used on the road widening project. This falls under the "can't we just get along" category.
When people were waiting their turn to drive the open lane tempers flared and verbal exchanges took place. There was an incident where one road worker was shot in the leg with a BB gun, and another where a burrito was thrown (assault with a tasteless weapon).
I think it's CalTrans running the project and they decided to just shut down the road to thru traffic. The good news is that the project is now 2 weeks ahead of schedule and should be finished before the September meet.
