Axletech 4000 for land speed?

Hello all, my name is Wrangell. Talking with my friend Tim with Saltybox Racing he mentioned some guys are running Axletech axles out of MRAP military vehicles. Does anyone know someone running one that I can talk to? What hubs, spindles, axle flanges and brakes are they using? Thanks

You might want to check on ratio's available, it would seem to me that they wouldn't be tall enough for LSR. What are you looking to hang one behind?

Some guys are already using them. They have a very broad range of ring and pinion ratios from 1.35 to 2.47-1. They get their low final ratio from the gear reduction boxes on the axle ends that will not be used.

Thanks for the link to Axletech, who offer a number of interesting items. I wonder if they could supply their axle-end-portals with step-up gears? That would allow an LSR builder to easily duplicate Challenger1's 1:2 axle-end boxes that Mickey tediously hand-built to avoid pinion shafts spinning 13,000 rpm.
I see that under 'motorsports' they include U S Gear, whose 9310 ring/pinion sets I used successfully in pulling. But I didn't realize that U S Gear is the only company manufacturing ring/pinions 100% U.S.-made.

I know this post is old, but I worked at Axletech for 16yrs.  They never sold Military parts to civilians.  Much may have changed in the last 10yrs since I left.  The gear reduction came as planetary wheel ends.  They were making wheel end mounted portal drive boxes, but it added several inches in lift ( off road rock climbing stuff).  Yes they acquired US Gear, in the Chicago area when I was there.  They make gears for many other manufacturers also.  The MRAP axles are very heavy, I am curious as to what people are using for wheel ends and axle shafts.   AxleTech is part of ArvinMeretor again, I believe.  This would open up much more on-highway capability, but 99% was very heavy duty stuff.
