Mike,

That is correct.  Rookie orientation is on saturday normaly at the registration trailer.  The time of the orientation is usualy posted at the registration trailer if my memory serves me correctly and usualy around 4:00pm with Greg Waters.  No inspection on friday just saturday approx 11:00am to 5:00pm.

Just P-P, maybe more someday. I need to look that up.
I read no new vehicles inspected on Sunday, so, I want to be in line at 11:00 am!

I am excited and nervous at the same time, what do you call this?

I get that same excited/nervous feeling too.  In other life-activities I try to put it away and get down to business.  With landracing, I let the feeling continue - maybe it's just because I'm still a rookie but I want to make sure I have that safety margin.  I let myself feel like that in the hopes that I will have good judgement when racing and make good decisions.  Come home safe and come back another day.

Man I can't wait to leave for the desert!!!!

You can tech on Sunday morning but no "new" vehicles or any vehicles in the top 25. They must be teched the previous day.

Yes, you saw my bike.

Not good, failed tech, my fault, disappointed, high-tailed it home.

Darn, I all ways learn the hard way, but learn something I did!
I can not try again til August.

Man that is terrible!  How far was your drive?

My first time down to El Mirage I noticed I didn't have metal valve STEMS at about 7pm the night before we were to leave.

I did not have the front axle safety wired, only the pinch bolts, the axle does not protrude out of the bottom fork castings, I am not comfortable drilling into the castings, but, every one else had to do it, so I will too. BTW, you could not beat that axle out with a sledge hammer!

Also I boneheaded the leather rule, skimmed thru and saw the partial perf part and brought the wrong leathers, I was not comfortable asking a perfect stranger to borrow their leathers, especially hearing as a rookie I would be dead last, and if the wind came up it might shut down the course.........and so on...I'm whining! I threw in the towel and went home.

Seven hour drive down, hotel in Mohave Saturday.

I am thinking of having a couple of buddies do a tech with the rule book in hand, should catch the obvious stuff.

Dang that sucks.

If you get stuck next time, I always bring safety wire pliers.  I didn't have a drill this time but I saw a few people with makitas.

You going next month?
