Bonneville 2-Club Motorcycle Minimums

"My personal" feeling is that if there is an existing record over 200 in a class that got someone in the 2 club then don't set a minimum above that.  Break that record and you are in.  Anything else just ends up being politics and comes down too to many things that can be considered "fair" or "un-fair" by everyone concerned.  I wouldn't want to be the one to decide.
 
 For new classes or for existing classes with no record I have no problem setting minimums based on existing speeds that are relevant to the class.
 
 I use to be a teacher and some teachers believed in the old bell shaped curve and felt only so many should get A's.  Me I would have liked it if all of my students would have worked hard enough and I would have been a good enough teacher for them all to have gotten A's.
 
 So I guess I'm trying to say why try and put limits out there to keep the size of the 2 club down.  If someone earns there way in then let them in.  I'd say if you want to accomplish a similar feat to what people had to do 30 years ago or more to get in the 2 club you would have to run over 300 today to feel you were their equivalent anyway.

 It is posted in the rule book (i think) that for entrance into the two club the RACER is to inquire on what speed he has to go before racing. I beleive the two club minimums were out, even though every land speed racer did not get a copy, it's still up to the racer to find out what minimum or record he is going after. SCTA does not set these speeds, so the only way to find out is ask the two club. Bottom line is, it's up to the racer, kinda like changing classes......
 
 I kinda like to use Ack Attack as example. They did not know the minimum for their class, so they asked. Basically no bitching, they just knew the speed and went out there and did it. Easy as that, Right Mike.

 tough deal...precedents and making judgements,
 its not easy, BUT I KNOW the 2 club folks are
 people I largely respect and many I admire, and
 the 2 club committee folks like the SCTA/USFRA folks do the best they can ALL the time
 
 Sum, I hear ya......but the precedent of minimums
 was set DECADES ago with cars.......so it is understandable to enforce this concept with bikes
 
 I personally rest with the philosophy of what the club is meant to stand for.....that is what drives the club......outstanding achievement,
 to me the "200" part is simply a "figure of speech"......part of the title that shows how
 far back the tradition goes.......
