New neck-head brace
« on: March 10, 2007, 12:22:22 PM »
Those of you interested in buying a head restraint system might want to pick up the May 2007 issue of Circle Track Magazine.  On page 102 there is a article on the new Leatt-Brace.  It was designed by a Doctor/racer from South Africa, Dr. Chris Leatt.  This device completely encircles the neck below the helmet, and has no tethers.  The cool part is that you have total movement to turn your head, yet the device restricts helmet movement 360 degrees in a downward motion.  The article says it  sells for about $600., which is over $200 less than a Hans.  It has a SFL 38.1 rating. Check it out at www.leatt-brace.com

The application of that neck brace will certainly do more than the full cow leathers and restriction to Snell helmets.
The cost is less than special leathers that are often restricted to SCTA use.
SFI members are all made aware of the newly tested and approved products and the sanction bodies owe it to their participants to give such things wide exposure at the minimum and be required as appropriate..

You might be surprised . LOL
Did you see the picture the German magazine took of me keeping cool and lowering my heart rate while waiting in line at Bonneville ?
I fell asleep in the car while suited up and the neck collar kept my head up.
He took the picture because somebody was talking to me and I did not respond.
Look for my son and grandsons to be wearing the new SFI collar.
