My first thought it would move it to m/mp. But the 4.3-2.8 were in the s10/15. the 3.8 in the slyclone. With any sbc in 55-57 chevy not being a swap. Did not know if the same would be true with the 3.8.

Terry, if you use a Chevy V6 that has the same basic block design as any original motor for the vehicle, it should not be a swap regardless of size. Since Buick motors did not come in chevys, it would be considered a swap. Now if you cannot tell the difference between the 2 motors without program, and a list of motor numbers, you could be disappointed when asked for proof. Just the opinion of another racer, I don't make the rules, I just try to keep up with the changes...

I hate to keep using this term but, "IN THE INTEREST OF ACCURACY" GM DID put Buick V6s in, for instance, my gutless, head gasket blowing, un-even firing, no mileage CHEVROLET '82 El Camino. A genuine piece of Doo-Doo! Loved it!
Apparantly the corporation was desperate in those days whether it be smog related or greed. It may be worth an investigation since the S-10 was, I recall, produced then (or were they still (Izusus) LUVS? They too could have been cursed with a Buick motor- or, come to think, were their engines all the equally pathetically gutless 60 degree V6?

The used the tubo 3.8 for 2-3 years in the gmc s15 grill tale gate is the only change from the s10.

That may be the good news, but we are back to the same question, is it the same basic block design as was offered in the year truck you have. If the basic design is the same you have the argument it is like the 350 in the 57, if not, it's the 396...

Terry, If you can come up with some documentation that GM built S-10 the year you want to run, with a Buick type engine then you have a case. If not you are pounding sand in a rat hole. Now both even and odd fire Buick type motors have the distributor in the front at an angle and the oil pump is in the front cover. I never seen an S-10 with a Buick type in it myself. Swap the rule for something that makes sense and it won't create so much confusion at the end of the day. Then you can spend a lot more time having fun. For every new rule in the book, require that 2 others be taken out. This one would be a good start.
