That method has always been the case for the short meets like El Mirage and some at Bonnevillle but it would be a change for Speedweek in that it was required to be measured the same day.
As the meet grew in size, lots of things changed like no qualify run to be eligible for a club record attempt, 1 way runs, and and the second run on the next day as a practice.
At a club level, only SCTA meets on the salt require a second run of any type and the average computed.
Perhaps it is time to modify or abandon that practice.
Increased running time could be the result.
A poll of the entrants at Speedweek might be interesting.

Yeah Jack; I ran my roadster before the Murray car. Everybody knew they were faster, but we went through the drill just in case. Dan was ready for whatever happened. No confusion at all except I lost my paper work. This was a different time then the one Dan is talking about, I think.   RF

Records can be broken 5 times a day in the same class and if done right, all can be record holders for the moment.
The 200 club is the same way.
Only the best , final result goes in the book.
If an individual doesn't like a method the potential change has to begin with them.
