We are noodling the idea of a turbo on our 125cc streamliner and in figuring out the designation for the motor class stumbled into this thread.
Apologies ahead of time if i have this incorrect, just need clarity. The AMA Record for the BuddFab Streamliner from 2008 record is currently listed in the 50cc class as S_AF which i believe is incorrect as turbo records in other classes are listed as S-BF. If i have this correct i can now sleep at night. i couldn't get my head around the 50cc without a turbo going 144MPH.
To that end running methanol or nitro methane or any gasoline not supplied at the event puts you into the Fuel class (F) and a Turbo or Supercharger is the Blown class (B). Just want to have this right for our race entries.
FIA rules are not FIM or AMA rules. SCTA rules are unlike everybody else's. The S/AF class is correct, for the association, that certified the record.
Some associations do not have Gas classes. fuel is open. Some associations do not have Supercharged classes. Rules can and do change.
If you are running SCTA, ask them. If you are running AMA or FIM, ask them. The answers will surely be different.
